Essos Clinic Credentialing Process

Why Credentialing Matters

At ESSOS, your safety and peace of mind are our top priorities. Every clinic and surgeon on our platform undergoes a rigorous credentialing process overseen by our Chief Medical Officer—a former Chief Resident of General Surgery at Harvard Medical School—and our medical board of 30+ top US plastic surgeons.

This comprehensive vetting process ensures that you're choosing from only the most qualified, ethical, and skilled medical professionals worldwide.

Our 5-Step Credentialing Process

1. Documentation & Verification

Every provider must submit and verify:

  • Medical License: Current, valid medical license in their practicing jurisdiction

  • Board Certifications: Specialty certifications from recognized medical boards

  • Training Records: Documentation of medical education and specialized training

  • Legal Standing: Full disclosure of any disciplinary actions or malpractice history

  • Standards Compliance: Adherence to both local and international medical standards

2. Primary Source Verification

Our credentialing committee conducts thorough background verification by:

  • Direct Verification: Check on medical schools, training institutions, and licensing boards

  • Personal Interview: One-on-one evaluation with each provider

  • Ethical Standards Review: Assessment of professional conduct and patient care philosophy

3. Clinical Excellence Review

Each surgeon must demonstrate their expertise through:

  • Case Portfolio: Minimum of 5 complete cases with high-quality before and after photographs

  • Procedure Documentation: Detailed records of surgical techniques and patient outcomes

  • Quality Assessment: Evaluation of technical skill and aesthetic results

  • Patient Consent: Verified permission to use cases for credentialing purposes

4. Board Member Evaluation

Our medical board independently scores each applicant on:

  • Surgical Skill: Technical proficiency based on training, experience, and case reviews

  • Professionalism: Communication skills and patient interaction standards

  • Essos Standards Compliance: Adherence to our platform's quality and safety requirements

  • Ethics and Conduct: Professional integrity and patient care commitment

  • Patient Safety Record: History of patient outcomes and safety protocols

Each designated board member provides an independent recommendation: Approve, Deny, or Request Additional Information.

5. Final Decision

Our Chief Medical Officer makes the final credentialing decision, which can result in:

  • Active Provider Status: Full privileges to offer procedures on our platform

  • Affiliate/Visiting Specialist: Limited scope based on specific expertise

  • Deferred: Additional information or improvements required

  • Denied: Does not meet our standards for patient safety and care quality

Ongoing Quality Assurance

Credentialing isn't a one-time process. We continuously monitor:

  • Patient Reviews: Feedback from Essos patients

  • Outcome Tracking: Monitoring procedure results and patient satisfaction

  • Compliance Audits: Regular reviews of safety protocols and standards

  • Professional Development: Ensuring providers maintain current certifications and training

Your Assurance

When you see the Essos credentialing checkmark, you can trust that:

  • The provider has been thoroughly vetted by leading US medical professionals

  • All credentials have been independently verified through primary sources

  • Clinical skills have been assessed through real case reviews

  • The provider meets the highest standards of ethics, professionalism, and patient safety
